The Chair of the DMA Working Group, reported on two recent meetings held on 2 February with Microsoft and on 24 February with ByteDance, both designated gatekeepers under the DMA. He described the exchanges as substantive and informative, noting that, unlike certain other gatekeepers such as Google, these companies currently operate a more limited number of core platform services within the scope of the Regulation.

Mr Schwab underlined that the Working Group meetings are essential to ensure close parliamentary scrutiny of implementation and to guarantee the active involvement of Members. He also informed the Committee that work is ongoing on a European Parliament resolution specifically focused on enforcement of the Digital Markets Act, drawing directly on the findings and discussions of the DMA Working Group. He called for a broader political debate on how Europe can further strengthen its digital independence.

Chair: A. Schwab

Members: A. Agius Saliba, V. Joron, P. Piperea, C. Ni Mhurchu, R. Van Lanschot, L. Chaibi, M. Ecke (ITRE), S. Yon-Courtin (ECON)
