On 1 December 2025, as part of the European Parliament’s Disability Rights Week, the EMPL and HOUS Committees will hold a joint public hearing on Inclusive Housing for All: Accessibility, Disability Rights, Vulnerable Groups and social inclusion in EU Housing Policy.
The debate will explore how EU housing policy can better respond to accessibility requirements, uphold disability rights, and address the needs of vulnerable groups, particularly persons with disabilities and young people.
Speakers will assess barriers such as limited accessibility, affordability challenges, and the slow uptake of inclusive and universal design standards. The discussion will also highlight opportunities to advance equal access to housing, reinforce independent living and foster social inclusion and participation in the labour market.
