ING2 Special Committee
The day after, the European Parliament created a new Special Committee (ING2) vested with the responsibilities to follow-up on the INGE 1 report. Following a decision from the plenary, the term of office of ING2 will now run until 12 August 2023.
On 14 February 2023, the European Parliament decided to give a new responsibility to the ING2 committee and to rename it. It is henceforth called "Special Committee on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the European Union, including disinformation, and the strengthening of integrity, transparency and accountability in the European Parliament".
The next ordinary meeting of ING2 is scheduled on Thursday 25 May 2023, 15.00 - 17.30 (room: ANTALL 4Q2).
Highlights

On Thursday 1 June 2023, ING2 Members will vote on committee's report on "recommendations for reform of European Parliament’s rules on transparency, integrity, accountability and anti-corruption".

On Tuesday 30 May 2023, ING2 Members will jointly with AFCO Members dive deeper into the different rules of democratic institutions on transparency, integrity, accountability and anti-corruption, in order to formulate recommendations to strengthen Parliament's own rules on these aspects.

The Special Committee on Foreign Interference (ING2) and the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will jointly hold a hearing on Thursday 25 May, 15.00 - 17.30, on the attempts to manipulate elections as a way to interfere in the democratic processes of sovereign States. This meeting will take place with five speakers including the journalists who revealed the story.

On Thursday 4 May 2023, 9.00-11.00, Members of ING2 will discuss the amendments to the draft report "Recommendations for reform of the European Parliament's rules on transparency, integrity, accountability and anti-corruption" of Vladimír Bilčík (EPP, Slovakia) and Nathalie Loiseau (Renew Europe, France). The draft report, presented on 30 March, contains recommendations to improve the transparency and integrity of Parliament’s work. 425 amendments have been submitted to the draft report.

On Wednesday 26 April 2023, ING2 Members will vote on committee's report on "foreign interference in all democratic processes in the European Union, including disinformation". In addition, ING2 Members will exchange views with EU DisinfoLab on its investigation into Russian influence operations. This will be followed by a presentation of the in-depth analysis “Enhancing the capabilities of CSDP missions and operations to identify and respond to disinformation attacks".
