The mandate of the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE) finished on 23 March 2022. The final report of the Committee was adopted in the plenary on 9 March 2022. The day after, the European Parliament created a new Special Committee (ING2) vested with the responsibilities to follow-up on the INGE 1 report.

The next ordinary meeting of the Special Committee ING2 is scheduled on Thursday 30 June from 11.00 until 13.00 (room: SPAAK 5B1).

On 30 June from 11.00 to 13.00, ING2 Members will welcome Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Ms Věra Jourová, to the special committee. As a first follow-up to the recommendations from the INGE-report, ING2 Members will discuss, together with Members from IMCO, CULT and LIBE, what steps the Commission has taken since the adoption of the INGE report.

Members from the Special Committee on Foreign Interference went to Riga on 24 May to meet officials from the NATO Strategic Communication Centre, ahead of the Riga StratCom Dialogue, which took place on 25 and 26 May. The event gathered the strategic communications community in the aftermath of Russian aggression.

The Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Special Committee on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the European Union, including disinformation, will hold a joint discussion on Russian disinformation and propaganda in relation to the war in Ukraine on 17 May. With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it is clear those are an integral part of Russia's military plan. The threat from Russia and the counter-measures at the disposal of the EU and its allies will be assessed.
