The Committee on Legal Affairs and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality held a joint mini-hearing between 3.00 and 4.00 p.m. on 12 November 2015 during the joint meeting scheduled for that moment. The hearing focused on the current situation regarding the inclusion of women in company boards across the EU and the potential benefits it entails for society and for the company itself.
It was also the occasion to learn about the current state of play of the file “proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on improving the gender balance among non-executive directors of companies listed on stock exchanges and related measures” which received strong support by Plenary during the last term but is currently blocked in the Council.
