Delegated Regulation (EU) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) …/... of 16.10.2025 amending Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2429 as regards origin labelling for fruit and vegetables originating in the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara

Western Sahara, a stretch of desert the size of Britain, has been the scene of Africa's longest-running territorial dispute since colonial power Spain left in 1975 and Morocco annexed the territory. The EU signed fisheries and agricultural agreements with Morocco in 2019, which included products from Western Sahara. On October 4 last year, the European Court of Justice ruled that the European Commission had violated the right to self-determination of the people of Western Sahara by signing trade deals with Morocco. The Commission is invited to present this Delegated Act and explain how far it is able to properly address the conclusions of the ECJ rulings.
