On 7th of April the LIBE MEPs had the opportunity to engage into an exchange of views with the Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, on the Commission’s new proposal for a Common European System for Returns.

The proposal, launched at the beginning of March 2025, sets a swifter, simpler and more effective return procedures across the EU and constitutes a key piece to complement the Pact on Migration and Asylum, which was adopted in May 2024 setting out a comprehensive approach on migration. The new rules give Member States the necessary tools to make return more efficient while fully respecting fundamental rights.
