PEST hearing on EFSA opinion and ECHA classification of active substances

The Special Committee on the Union’s authorisation procedure for pesticides held a public hearing on “EU authorisation procedure for pesticides - EFSA opinion on draft assessment reports and ECHA classification of active substances” on 7 June 2018. At the hearing, representatives from EFSA, ECHA and the Commission’s Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM), as well as Mr. Christopher Portier (private consultant) answered questions raised by Committee members.
As was the case at previous hearings, the debate was held in "ping-pong" format (in order to ensure that MEPs receive a direct reply and have the possibility to ask follow-up questions).
