At their meeting of 12 September 2022, IMCO Coordinators established a working group intended to scrutinise the implementation of the Digital Services Act and report back its findings to the Committee. The working group is chaired by Parliament's rapporteur, Ms Christel Schaldemose (S&D) and is composed of the Shadows from the political groups in IMCO, as well as the rapporteurs for opinion of the associated committees.

Ms Schaldemose: "A good law is a bad law if it's not enforced. Therefore, a proper implementation of the DSA is crucial to ensure a safer online environment. With this Working Group we will look closely at the concrete implementation steps taken by the Commission and the Member States to make sure that the legislation will be implemented and enforced as well as possible".

The first meeting was held on 21 March 2023 and kick started the scrutiny of the implementation of the DSA by the Commission. The second meeting took place on 18 October 2023, during which the Commission updated on the ongoing enforcement, namely that related to fighting illegal content, disinformation and fake news linked to the recent attacks in the Middle East, as well as the upcoming European elections of 2024. Members also discussed the application of the DSA with representatives of very large online platforms (e.g., Meta, X, TikTok).
