Hearing on Women's reproductive health and specificities
On Tuesday, 19 September 2023, the FEMM Committee held a hearing on “Women's reproductive health and specificities, including SRHR and access to abortion”.
In the light of the International Safe Abortion Day on 28 September, the FEMM Committee had organised this hearing to hear from four experts on the current state of play on women's reproductive health rights.
Women's reproductive health has long been a target of anti-gender movements, and women's rights have been steadily eroded in many countries. A significant proportion of the committee's work over the past few years has been dedicated to this topic, as we have witnessed a backlash against women's rights and gender equality in Europe and elsewhere. The FEMM committee stands with women and those fighting to protect women's reproductive health rights, and consistently calls for women's rights to be protected and funding increased.
