IMCO Working Group on the Implementation of the Digital Markets Act

During the 9th legislative term of the European Parliament, IMCO Coordinators established a working group on the Implementation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA WG) on 12 September 2022 to scrutinise the implementation of the Digital Markets Act and report its findings to the Committee. With the start of the 10th legislative term, this Working Group was renewed on 24 July 2024, with the same mandate.

This Working Group plays a crucial role in monitoring and assessing the enforcement of the DMA, ensuring its effective implementation across the European Union.

The Working Group is composed of Members from all the political groups in IMCO, as well as Members from associated committees.

On 28 January 2025, the Chair, MEP Andreas Schwab, reported to Committee Members on the first meeting of the DMA WG of 16 January 2025.

On 23 January 2025, the Members of the DMA WG, together with the IMCO Chair and other MEPs sent a letter to Executive Vice-Presidents Virkkunen and Ribera. The letter (below) urged the Commission to expedite ongoing investigations, closely monitor AI and cloud services, and assess their potential designation as core platform services.
