Working Group on the Implementation of the Digital Services Act

The Chair of the DSA Working Group, reported back from the meeting held on 4 February. The meeting focused on systemic risks and their mitigation, especially regarding the protection of minors online. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Commission, the Irish Digital Services Coordinator and Meta.

Members discussed teen accounts as a tool to mitigate online systemic risks but remained unconvinced of their adequacy. They raised the question of a possible pan-European age verification system. The Commission reported on the state of play of enforcement actions, where improvements were acknowledged. Ms Schaldemose underlined that the Working Group meetings are essential to ensure close parliamentary scrutiny of implementation and the active involvement of Members.
