On 19 March, LIBE Committee Members have discussed with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, on his intentions for the forthcoming European Internal Security Strategy. The Strategy is expected to be published before the end of March.
This exchange offered Members the opportunity to share with the Commission their views and expectations on the most pressing security issues to be tackled in Europe.
The Commission has announced that, as part of its Strategy, it intends to examine all threats online and offline, and ensure that law enforcement and judicial cooperation is strengthened. It will lay out the tools and measures to be developed over the next 5 years to combat existing and evolving threats, and to enhance security in the EU.
