On 14 June 2022, the Committee on Fisheries held a public hearing entitled "Spitsbergen to Brexit: a new paradigm for sustainable fisheries management in the NE-Atlantic & Arctic". In a post-Brexit world, time is ripe to examine fishing agreements in the Arctic region.

The purpose of this hearing is to examine various agreements, international organisations and obligations in the region and how they affect EU fisheries policy. The speakers will also discuss how fisheries management should be organised in the future in order for the EU to achieve its objective of sustainable fisheries and to ensure a competitive EU-fishing fleet in the area.
