Tax implications of the Trump administration’s policies
On Tuesday, 23 September 2025, the FISC Subcommittee held a public hearing on "Tax implications of the Trump administration’s policies". In light of recent shifts in U.S. tax policy under the Trump II administration, the hearing assessed its potential implications on EU businesses and the broader transatlantic tax landscape.
The discussion focused on how recent U.S. measures affected the competitiveness of European companies, particularly in relation to international tax frameworks such as the OECD's Pillar Two and the possible application of digital services taxes (DSTs) in the EU. Experts explored the broader consequences of these developments for international tax cooperation, as well as possible policy responses at EU level to ensure a fair and balanced global tax environment. The hearing provided a platform to reflect on the evolving dynamics of EU-U.S. tax relations and considered how the EU can safeguard its interests in a rapidly changing global context.
