On 10 May the ENVI Committee Members adopted the negotiated text on the European Climate Law establishing the framework for achieving climate neutrality in the EU.

During the 6th trilogue held on 20 April 2021, Council and Parliament reached a provisional agreement, which sets a 55 % net GHG emission target for 2030 and an EU-wide climate neutrality objective for 2050, establishes a European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change and foresees the use of a EU GHG budget for setting the 2040 target.
