On 18 July 2023 Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a debate with H.E. Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro. The exchange of views comes takes place just two months after President Milatović took office following presidential elections in March and April 2023. High political tensions and polarisation plunged Montenegro into a deep political and institutional crisis last year, and consequently stalled Montenegro’s progress on its European path.
On 6 July 2023 Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Committee on Budgets (BUDG) will hold a debate with a representative of the European Commission on the proposal for the Ukraine Facility.
On 3 July, AFET and DEVE Committees are organising a hearing on “Implementation of the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) – Global Europe". This hearing will serve to prepare a joint report, two years since the beginning of the MFF 2021-2027 and the entry into force of the regulation.
On 27 June 2023, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing on the "EU's preventive diplomacy - practise makes (not yet) perfect". Members will discuss with three expert speakers what aspects are still missing in EU's foreign policy to successfully carry out preventive diplomacy.
On 27 June, the Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and national parliaments of the EU Member States will meet in an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM).
A delegation of AFET Members will travel to Santiago and Valparaíso (Chile) and Brasília (Brazil) from 18 to 23 June 2023. The main goal of this mission is to discuss how to make a qualitative leap in the EU-Latin America strategic bi-regional partnership in view of the CELAC-EU Summit on 17-18 July 2023.
