On 15 April, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) in cooperation with the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments held an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) entitled: “Human Work in the Digital Age – artificial intelligence, new forms of working, and work-related stress”.
On 15 April, Members will discuss the draft report on the implementation of the Council Recommendation of 30 October 2020 on A Bridge to Jobs – Reinforcing the Youth Guarantee. The draft report emphasizes that, despite progress since 2020, significant challenges remain in ensuring timely and quality offers for young people.
The EMPL Committee will, on 15 April, consider Ms Estelle Ceulemans’ (S&D) draft legislative own-initiative report on psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work. These risks, linked to poor work organisation, can lead to serious physical and psychological harm, including burnout.
On 16 March, the EMPL Committee held an exchange of views with the Executive Directors of the EU Agencies under its remit: the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the European Labour Authority (ELA), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound).
On 17 March, the EMPL Committee held an exchange of views with Roxana Mînzatu, Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, in the framework of the structured dialogue. The exchange touched on upcoming challenges in the area of social policy, such as quality jobs, digitalisation, funding, labour shortages and skills. The Executive Vice-President presented, on this occasion, the Quality Jobs Roadmap, published last December.
On 17 March, the EMPL Committee discussed with Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing the social dimension of the Commission’s Affordable Housing Plan, presented in the HOUS Committee in December 2025.
