Se permite a las comisiones organizar audiencias de expertos cuando lo consideren indispensable para la buena marcha de sus trabajos sobre un asunto determinado. Las audiencias también pueden celebrarlas dos o más comisiones de forma conjunta. La mayor parte de las comisiones organiza audiencias con regularidad, ya que estos actos les permiten oír a expertos y debatir sobre asuntos clave. On 21 March 2023, DROI will hold a public hearing on "The state of human rights in Algeria in the framework of the renewed partnership with the Southern Neighbourhood" to discuss recent developments in the field of human rights and the rule of law in Algeria. The hearing will be held in association with the standing delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries (DMAG).

On 16 March 2023 PEGA Committee held a hearing on "Spyware and telecommunication companies". Members heard from several experts in this field.

On 16 March 2023 PEGA Committee held a hearing on "Geopolitics of Spyware II". It was be a continuation of the same hearing that took place on 9 February 2023, but had to be suspended due to the interpretation problems. This hearing followed up on the hearing organised by PEGA in December 2022 on "Spyware used in third countries and implications for EU foreign relations". Members heard from several victims targeted by spyware, as well as experts in this field.

On 9 March PEGA committee held an exchange of views on a European Security Lab / Research centre on spyware. The need to create a European Tech Centre modelled after what Citizen Lab and Amnesty International have put in place has been raised at several instances in the PEGA Committee discussions. The purpose of exchange was to come back with more precise answers to questions of how and what to have in the set up of such centre.

This public hearing on conscientious objection as a human right and in particular, Russian conscientious objectors aims to highlight how the human right to conscientious objection to military service must be enforced in all countries, including those at war, and how the EU could grant conscientious objectors further protection.
