On 12 March 2026, the European Parliament approved, by a large majority, the provisional agreement on amending the Package Travel Directive. This plenary vote marks a decisive step toward formal adoption. The agreement reflects lessons from the pandemic and recent high-profile bankruptcies, strengthening protection for package holidaymakers. The Council must now also adopt the legislation formally.

The last Working Group meeting was held on 4 February and it was divided in 2 panels. The first panel was dedicated to a discussion on the Code of Practice on AI. Article 50 of the AI Act sets out transparency obligations for providers and deployers of generative AI systems to ensure that AI-generated or AI-manipulated content, including deep fakes, can be clearly identified.

On 25 February, the joint ENVI-IMCO committee approved the provisional agreement reached with the Danish presidency, on circularity requirements for vehicle design and end-of-life management. This agreement aims to promote more sustainable vehicle production and disposal, while harmonising rules across Member States to strengthen the internal market and reduce environmental impacts.

The Chair of the DSA Working Group, reported back from the meeting held on 4 February. The meeting focused on systemic risks and their mitigation, especially regarding the protection of minors online. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Commission, the Irish Digital Services Coordinator and Meta.

The Chair of the DMA Working Group, reported on two recent meetings held on 2 February with Microsoft and on 24 February with ByteDance, both designated gatekeepers under the DMA. He described the exchanges as substantive and informative, noting that, unlike certain other gatekeepers such as Google, these companies currently operate a more limited number of core platform services within the scope of the Regulation.

On 27 January 2026, the IMCO co-rapporteurs for the two joint IMCO–SEDE Defence Readiness Omnibus files, Henrik Dahl (EPP) and Anna-Maja Henriksson (Renew), reported on the opening trilogue held the previous day. The discussions covered proposals on simplifying intra-EU transfers and defence procurement, as well as accelerating permit-granting for defence projects. All three institutions confirmed their intention to advance the files swiftly, reflecting their strategic importance.

On 26 January 2026, Rapporteur Mr Gotink reported on the fourth trilogue meeting, which took place on 10 December 2025. The agenda covered several key political issues, including digital sovereignty, access rights, cooperation with other authorities on customs matters, the harmonisation of infringements and sanctions, and the timeline for implementing the various elements of the Regulation.

The joint IMCO–INTA Working Group on the Forced Labour Regulation was created to keep track of new EU rules banning products made with forced labour. Regulation (EU) 2024/3015 entered into force on 13 December 2024 and will apply from 14 December 2027, with some provisions already in effect. The Working Group held its first meeting on 3 December 2025. Its role is to monitor the preparatory steps needed before the Regulation starts to apply.
