Next INGE Special Committee meeting

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.

Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.

The next INGE meeting will take place on Thursday 2 December 2021 from 9.00 to 12.00 (meeting room: ANTALL 4Q1).

The INGE meeting on 2 December will start with a hearing on “Foreign interference in the Western Balkans”, held in association with the AFET's Working Group on the Western Balkans. Members will examine how different state actors are attempting to increase their influence in the region through various means. Afterwards, there will be a presentation of the in-depth analysis on “The misuse of social media platforms and other communication channels by authoritarian regimes: lessons learned”.

On Monday 15 November from 16.45 to 18.45, the INGE Special Committee will take a close look at the mechanics of disinformation and conspiracy theories. Five invited experts will speak about three topics that are often exploited by foreign actors trying to manipulate the public debate: climate change, vaccination and migration.

The INGE Special Committee will discuss with Members of the European Parliament and Members of National Parliament the draft report of the Committee as well as exchange on best practices to tackle foreign interference and disinformation from a national and supranational perspective.
