Vote on Draft Report on Batteries and Waste Batteries and further upcoming votes
On Thursday 10 February 2022, the ENVI Committee voted on the draft report of Rapporteur Simona Bonafè (S&D) on the proposal for a regulation on batteries and waste batteries. The draft report provides clearer definitions regarding which batteries can be admitted to market and introduces minimum requirements for the content of recycled material in batteries.
Rapporteur Bonafè highlights the need for continued evolution of the legislation as technology advances. Following adoption in Committee, the report will be submitted for vote in Plenary during the February Session.
The Committee also voted on the draft opinion on Green Bonds, presented by Rapporteur Bas Eickhout (Greens/EFA), the Annual Sustainable Growth Survey and the Guidelines for the 2023 Budget.
