On Wednesday 15 June 2022, the FEMM and LIBE committees heard from the EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, Diane Schmitt, regarding the Anti-Trafficking Plan to protect people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

About 6.5 million people, mainly women and children (90%), have now tried to flee the war against Ukraine. For many of them, the risk of trafficking, violence and exploitation is high-risk all along their journey, in transit but also in the countries of destination as refugee/asylum seekers.
The EU Solidarity Platform presented on 11 May a tailor-made Common Anti-Trafficking Plan to address the risks of trafficking in human beings and support potential victims. The Plan will be debated in the joint meeting.
