In the context of the European Parliament Gender Equality Week, the Committee will receive experts to discuss best practices in the field of gender budgeting.
The AFET and BUDG Committees will hold the first Ukraine Facility Dialogue pursuant to Article 37 of the Ukraine Facility Regulation. The Ukraine Facility is a EUR 50 billion instrument, disbursed in stages, which represents one of the cornerstones of the EU's strategy to support Ukraine in the wake of Russia's war of aggression.
Members of the Committee on Budgets adopted a budgetary assessment of the European's Commission proposal for the Regulation called RESTORE – Regional Emergency Support to Reconstruction.
Members debated the provisional agreement on the 2025 EU Budget found by the negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council last Saturday.
Piotr Serafin, Commissioner-designate for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration was heard by the BUDG and CONT committees on 7 November 2024 afternoon. During the confirmation hearing, the commissioner-designate gave an opening speech and then answered questions by committee members.
In a context shaped by unprecedented challenges and uncertainties, this workshop delved into topics of strategic relevance for the BUDG Committee and its preparatory work for the own-initiative report that will set out the Parliament's priorities and expectations for the post-2027 EU long-term budget, before the Commission's proposal, due by July 2025.
On 6 November, the BUDG Committee held a joint committee meeting with the Committee on Budgets of the Verkhovna Rada, with Rada members joining remotely. This dialogue, aimed at discussing issues of joint interest and strengthening cooperation between the two committees, was launched in the previous term following Russia's war of aggression.
BUDG members exchanged with Nadia Calviño, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Tony Murphy, President of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), on the lessons learnt from the current EU long-term budget.
