On 23 February, Members of the Development Committee, jointly with Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, will participate in an exchange of views with the EEAS and the Commission on relations with East Africa – focussing on Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
On 4 February, Members of the Development Committee exchanged views with EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, on access to COVID-19 vaccines for developing countries. On 17 February, in a letter sent to Commissioner Urpilainen ahead of the G7 Leaders’ Summit, MEPs call on the EU to pledge 300 million euros more to help developing countries obtain COVID-19 vaccines.
This study, requested by DEVE, provides a broad perspective on the main trends regarding the use of pesticides in developing countries and their impacts on human health and food security. It was presented to the Members on 4 February during the Committee meeting.
On 26 January, two meetings took place jointly with other committees: • Meeting with the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT): presentation of the Court of Auditors Special Report on Development Aid to Kenya. • Meeting with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET): exchange of views on the situation in Ethiopia with Hirut Zemene, Ambassador of Ethiopia, the EEAS and the Commission.
