Next LIBE Committee meetings

In the context of the exponential growth of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.
The meetings will be with remote participation for Members (being able to view and listen to proceedings, ask for the floor and intervene in the meeting). Other participants are invited to follow the meeting through webstreaming.

Following these decisions, the next LIBE Committee meeting will take place on:
- Wednesday, 24 February, room ANTALL 2Q2
- Monday, 1 March, room ANTALL 4Q2


Attacks on abortion rights and breaches of the Rule of Law in Poland

On 24 February 2021, the LIBE and FEMM Committees will organise a joint hearing on "Attacks on abortion rights and breaches of the Rule of Law in Poland".

The 8th meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG) took place on 1-2 February in Lisbon and via remote participation. Europol Executive Director, Ms Catherine De Bolle and European Data Protection Supervisor, Mr Wojciech Wiewiórowski intervened in the meeting. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ms Ylva Johansson, and the Portuguese Minister for Home Affairs, Eduardo Cabrita gave keynote speeches focused on the revision and strengthening of the mandate of Europol.
