Exchange of views with the 2023 Sakharov Prize laureates

On Monday, 11 December 2023, Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Committee on Development and Sub-committee on Human Rights will meet 2023 Sakharov Prize laureates: Jina Mahsa Amini and the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, represented by Afsoon Najafi and Mersedeh Shahinkar.
By awarding the 2023 Sakharov Prize to Jina Mahsa Amini and the Woman, Life, Freedom Movement in Iran, the Parliament recognises their brave efforts to stand up for fundamental rights and women's rights. Through this debate, Members will have the opportunity to express their strong support for the aspiration of the Iranian people to live in a free, stable, inclusive and democratic country.

At the initiative of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, the European Parliament organised a High Level Conference on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The event took place within the European Parliament in Brussels, on 29 November 2023.

On 13 November 2023, DROI organises a workshop on the forcible transfer and deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia in the presence of experts, including Mykola Kuleba, former Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights and co-founder of the Alliance for Ukraine Without Orphans and 'Save Ukraine', who has deployed tremendous efforts to bring children back home.
