Climate activist Greta Thunberg was in ENVI on Wednesday 4 March in an extraordinary ENVI committee meeting that was open to all Members.

The discussion covered the main aspects concerning the global challenge of climate change. The meeting served as a first reaction following the adoption earlier on Wednesday of the proposal by the Commission on the EU climate law, which will aim to make Europe the first carbon neutral continent by 2050. It was an important opportunity to exchange views on the best ways forward and on how to ensure that all actors and sectors contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal and achieve the EU ecological transition.

This was the second time that Ms Thunberg addressed ENVI Members. The first exchange took place less than a year ago on 16 April 2019.
