Response to the Crisis in the US and the EU - exchange with the Biden administration

Members of the Committee on Budgets held an exchange of views with Shalanda Young, acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Biden Administration, to examine the similarities and differences between the US and the EU Recovery Plans.

The exchange followed the adoption of the USD 1,9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act by the US Congress, as well as the launch of additional initiatives by President Biden, including the American Jobs and Families Plans, and the presentation of the budget for the 2022 fiscal year by President Biden on 28 May 2021.
Ms Shalanda Young is currently serving as acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the largest office in within the Executive Office of the President of the United States. She previously worked for the United States House Committee on Appropriations as its staff director.
The meeting took place on Monday 31 May, from 16:45 to 18:15.
