During the TRAN Committee meeting on 15 July, Members discussed the situation of the seafarers stranded in the Persian Gulf, the evacuation plan of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), and lessons learned with IMO’s Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez and Foteini Ioannidou, Director for Waterborne Transport in the European Commission’s DG MOVE.

The TRAN Committee had the pleasure of welcoming the Irish Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Mr Seán Canney, and the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Mr Peter Burke during the TRAN Committee meeting on 15 July.

The TRAN Committee hosted two experts for an oral briefing to discuss the most recent developments and impacts of the Middle East Crisis on air fuels supply and prices and on air network and fares for travellers.

At its meeting on 23 June, the Joint SEDE–TRAN Committee voted on the draft report concerning the proposed Regulation on Military Mobility.

During the TRAN Committee meeting on 23 June, the Tourism Task Force (TTF) had an exchange of views on ‘Regional and island tourism: addressing structural disadvantages, connectivity gaps and seasonality imbalances’.
