In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.

Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions. The meetings allow for remote participation in a virtual environment.will take place on 6 September, 13.45-16.15 and 16.45-18.45

The next meeting will take place on 25 October, 13.45-16.15 and 16.45-18.45 and 26 October, 9.00-12.00.

Further meetings are scheduled on 18 November, 13.45-16.15, 1 December, 13.45-16.15 and 16.45-18.45 and on 2 December, 9.00-12.00.

On 6 September ANIT organised a public hearing on "Alternatives to long-distance live animal transport and farmers' experience of the shift to alternatives". It provided Members with an overview of and insights into alternatives to long-distance animal transport, such as on-farm slaughter, mobile slaughter, meat-and-carcass transport, as well the transport of genetic material.

ANIT Members considered the amendments tabled on : - Draft report Investigation of alleged contraventions and maladministration in the application of Union law in relation to the protection of animals during transport within and outside the Union - Draft motion for a resolution Draft recommendations following the inquiry into the protection of animals during transport within and outside the Union. Co-rapporteurs are Daniel Buda (EPP, RO) and Isabel Carvalhais (S&D, PT)
