Next PECH committee meetings

In the context of the exponential growth of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

On 2 July, the Conference of Presidents updated the EP's calendar of activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the EP to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.

Following these decisions, the next PECH committee meetings will be held remotely on Monday 16 November, from 13:45 to 15:45 and will be webstreamed.

On 27 October 2020, the Policy Department for Structural and Cohesion Policies presented a new study "Impact of the use of offshore wind and other marine renewables on European fisheries" at the PECH Committee meeting from 13.45 to 14.45.

The scope of the hearing is to identify concrete steps and relevant tools on how to achieve, under the current fishing regime, a recovery of endangered stocks, while safeguarding stock productivity and fleet profitability. The hearing with experts took place remotely on Tuesday 27 October at 9.00-11.00 and it was webstreamed.
