Combating Violence Against Women

Violence against women and gender-based violence, both physical and psychological, are widespread and affect women at all levels of society, regardless of age, education, income, social position or country of origin or residence. Combatting and preventing violence against women and gender-violence is one of the key goals of our Committee.
According to the 2014 survey by the FRA one third of all women in Europe have experienced physical or sexual acts of violence at least once since the age of 15; 55 % of women have been confronted with one or more forms of sexual harassment; 11 % have experienced cyber harassment; and 1 in 20 (5 %) have been raped and more than one tenth have suffered sexual violence involving the use of force.
