Public Hearing on “Legal Migration: the skills and talent package”
The European Parliament invited experts to discuss perspectives for the EU legal migration framework, around the Commission proposals in the Skills and Talent package and in view of 2021 Parliament's own initiative reports.
The debate took place in the context of the recently adopted mandate of the Parliament on the recasts of the Single Permit and Long-term Residence Directives.
What should be the next legislative initiatives? How should the upcoming Talent pool and Talent partnerships be shaped? What to expect from the announced initiative on the recognition of third-country nationals' skills? Speakers from international organisations, social partners, NGOs and the academia tried to answer these questions to critically asses the present and future EU legal migration landscapes.
