The Commission published a proposal for a new Regulation establishing the EU Anti-Fraud Programme on 30 May 2018 as part of the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

This EU Anti-Fraud Programme has two main objectives:

  • Protecting the financial interests of the European Union.
  • Support to mutual assistance between the administrative authorities of the Member States and cooperation between the latter and the Commission to ensure the correct application of the law on customs and agricultural matters.

On 16 March 2021, the Council is expected to adopt its position on the EU Anti-fraud Programme. The latter would then be announced in the Plenary mini session of 24-25 March. CONT Committee would then vote on the draft recommendation for second reading at its meeting of 14-15 April. The Parliament would adopt its second reading position at the April Plenary part-session.
