Conflicts of interests in the management of EU funds

On 24 May 2023, the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) held a public hearing on the application of the rules on conflicts of interests in the management of EU funds in the Member States.
Two years after the adoption of the European Commission's guidance on the avoidance and management of conflicts of interests under the Financial Regulation, what are the experiences of Member States in avoiding and managing conflicts of interests based on EU financial rules? The CONT Committee heard the views from regional managing authorities, from the Romanian National integrity Agency and from the European Commission and discussed lessons learned linked to the application of the rules on conflicts of interests in relation to the management of EU funds in the Member States.
