On Wednesday 18 March 2026, Dominique Laboureix, the Chair of the SRB which is tasked with dealing with distressed banks in the Banking Union, appears for the first time in 2026 in the ECON Committee. Mr Laboureix is expected to touch upon currently relevant topics in the context of SIU, including the targeted consultation by the Commission on competitiveness of the EU banking sector.

On 18 March 2026 from 10.00 to 11.30, the ECON Committee will first hold an exchange of views with Mr Alfred Camilleri, Chair of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB). The latest ESGAB annual report provides recommendations and insights on the current governance framework for European statistics. This will shed light on the subsequent second exchange of views with the DG of Eurostat, Ms Mariana Kotzeva.
