Exchange of views of the FISC subcommitee on 19 April 2021

The FISC Subcommittee held an exchange of views with Ms. Lyudmila Petkova, Chair of the Code of Conduct Group on the reform of the Code of Conduct Group criteria and process on 19 April 2021. The discussion came in context of calls for reform from both the Commission and the European Parliament, most recently in its resolution of 21 January 2021 on reforming the EU list of tax havens, spurred by developments in tax matters since the establishment of the CoC in 1997.

FISC Exchange of views with Margrethe Vestager of 23 March 2021

On 23 March 2021, the FISC subcommittee held an exchange views with Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Europe Fit for the Digital Age, and Commissioner for Competition, on digital taxation and state aid in the tax area.

FISC exchange of views with Mr João Leão, Minister of State for Finance of Portugal

On 22 March, the FISC subcommittee held an exchange views on digital taxation and other tax matters with Mr João Leão, accompanied by his Deputy Minister for Finance and Tax Affairs, Mr António Mendonça Mendes.

TRAN Members discussed with experts the prospects of the use of hydrogen fuel in the transport sector and the related technologies for road, rail, waterborne and air transport.


The eighth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG) took place on 1-2 February 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal and via remote participation due to the pandemic. The JPSG brought together Members of national parliaments and the European Parliament to fulfil the scrutiny and oversight on the activities of Europol including on fundamental rights.

During the AFCO meeting of 2 December 2020, Dr. Andreas MAURER, Professor for Political Science and European Integration Studies, University of Innsbruck (Austria) presented a study commissioned by the Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs on request of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs on “The European Parliament’s right of initiative”.

On 28 October, the FISC Members discussed the state of play on the ongoing reform of the international tax system with Benjamin Angel (Director for direct taxation at DG TAXUD) and Pascal Saint Amans (Director for Tax policy at OECD).
