In the context of the exponential growth of COVID-19, the EP President has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.
The current precautionary measures adopted by the EP to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that EP's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.
Meetings will be with remote participation for Members. Other participants can follow the meeting through webstreaming.
Thus, the next TRAN meeting will take place on Monday 10 May 2021 from 13.45 to 15.45.

TRAN held an exchange of views with the Director General of DG GROW Kerstin Jorna on the situation facing the tourism sector ahead of the upcoming summer season. It has been over a year since the tourism sector was hit hard by the pandemic. Many companies went dormant or out of business; others are trying to find new ways to stay afloat by reinventing themselves and their ways of doing business.
The hearing on boosting the alternative fuels in the transport sector provided Members an opportunity to gain insight from experts in the field.

MEPs want a safer and more sustainable tourism after Covid-19. Tourism will need help to become cleaner, safer and more sustainable after the pandemic, according to MEPs. They will vote during the next Plenary session on a report on Establishing an EU Strategy for Sustainable Tourism on 25 March.
TRAN Members discussed with experts the prospects of the use of hydrogen fuel in the transport sector and the related technologies for road, rail, waterborne and air transport. The workshop took place on Tuesday afternoon, 16 March 2021 and was webstreamed.
Matthew Baldwin, EU Road Safety Coordinator, addressed the TRAN Committee to give an update of the major steps forward in road safety at EU level. The focus was on the Stockholm Declaration on Road Safety and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy at EU level, confirming all aspects of the EU Road Safety Policy Framework 2019 and putting an emphasis on linking “sustainable” and “safe” policies.
