The Health Working Group of the ENVI Committee requested the Policy Department for Economic, Scientific and Quality of Life Policies to organise a webinar on the issue of mental health, covering issues such as the impediments to mental health care, the costs of neglecting Mental Health care, COVID-19 fatigue and the consequences of the emergency status we are experiencing in Europe, affecting both the economic and the social lives of all citizens.

The Health Working Group of the ENVI Committee requested the Policy Department A to organise a webinar on the issue of climate change and health, covering issues such as climate threat on physical health, the mental charge of climate change on vulnerable groups and regions and food and nutrition security concerns caused by climate change.

The webinar will bring together four leading, independent experts in the field of deforestation from two renowned institutions (Environment Agency Austria and Cambridge Econometrics), in order to inform the ENVI Committee Members of the most important concerns in this area and to provide a forum for discussion.

Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan is expected by the end of the year, and preparatory work and consultations are currently ongoing to shape the plan, set priorities and outline future action. This workshop looks into one of the key topics, modifiable risk factors and cancer prevention. Experts from all across the cancer spectrum will discuss with MEPs the state of play and main challenges, with a special angle on paediatric, digestive and HPV cancers.

In view of the Hearings of Commissioners-Designate, the workshop aims to outline the state of play of the current legislation and to identify and describe the unresolved and upcoming key issues and challenges for Europe in the area of competences of the ENVI Committee for the next five years.

Policy Hubs are fora for dialogue and debate among experts within the European Parliament and other institutions, as well as the wider academic community. The discussions focus on topical issues on the agenda of Parliament's political bodies.

The workshop will have to provide a balanced review of status and prospects of applying robotic (and AI) based technologies in healthcare. AI and robotics are part of a larger enterprise that concerns digitalization of healthcare that is going on for a while (e.g. eHealth). Digitalisation will necessarily interconnect with both AI and robotic technologies. Ethical and legal considerations concerning only AI and robotics will also be considered.
