On 16 April 2026, ENVI Members will consider the amendments on the ENVI opinion opinion on the revision of the Critical Raw Materials Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1252). The file has been referred to ITRE as the lead committee, with ENVI responsible for delivering an opinion.
On 16 April 2026, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) will present their Special report 11/2026 "Innovation Fund - High potential, but slow progress and little impact on emissions reduction" to the Committee on Budgetary Control, and to the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety.
On 15 April 2026, ENVI Members will hold an exchange of views with representatives of the Dutch and Colombian authorities, and representatives of the Commission ahead of the First International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, to be held in Santa Marta from 24 to 29 April 2026. The ENVI Committee will send a seven-Member ad-hoc mission to the conference from 27 to 29 April.
On 15 April 2026, the ENVI-PECH (CJ59) Committee will vote on amendments and on the mandate to enter into interinstitutional negotiations on the proposal empowering France to accede to the Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles. The Commission presented its proposal on 17 November 2025 following a request submitted by France on 4 February 2025.
On 15 April 2026, ENVI Members will vote on their negotiation mandate for the market stability reserve (MSR) for the emissions trading system covering buildings, road transport and additional sectors (EU ETS2).
On 15 April 2026, ENVI Members will vote on the adoption of the draft report on the Regulation on the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The ECHA was established in 2007 under the REACH Regulation to carry out a number of tasks under that Regulation. The current proposal establishes a standalone legal framework to strengthen the Agency’s governance and financial stability, reflecting its expanded role across EU chemicals legislation.
On 15 April 2026, ENVI Members will hold an exchange of views with the European Commission ahead of the 84th session of the International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (IMO MEPC 84), taking place from 27 April to 1 May 2026 in London. The discussion will focus on EU priorities for the session, notably shipping decarbonisation, air pollution and marine environmental protection.
On 15 April 2026, ENVI Members will hold an exchange of views with Nikolaus Kriz, Executive Director of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), on EU food safety policy and EFSA’s scientific work. The discussion is expected to focus on the Authority’s priorities, ongoing risk assessments and its role in supporting EU decision-making on food and feed safety
On 15 April 2026, ENVI and IMCO Members will vote on the adoption of the joint draft report on simplification of certain requirements and procedures for chemical products (Chemical Omnibus). The Chemical Omnibus is a key proposal to simplify EU chemicals legislation by reducing regulatory burdens, especially for SMEs, while maintaining a high level of protection for human health and the environment.
