Odbori mogu organizirati saslušanja sa stručnjacima kada se smatra da bi ona bila iznimno važna za njihov rad na određenom predmetu. Saslušanja zajedno mogu održati dva ili više odbora. Većina odbora redovito organizira saslušanja jer im ona omogućuju da čuju mišljenja stručnjaka te da održavaju rasprave o ključnim pitanjima. On 9 November INTA will organise a hearing on EU-China trade and investment relations. The EU and China are two of the biggest traders in the world, with China being the EU's second trading partner. But in recent years the balance of challenges and opportunities in the bilateral relationship has shifted on issues such as market access obstacles and unfair trade practices. On top of this, the COVID-19 pandemic has a big impact on the bilateral and global trade environment.

On 12 October, the 5th INTA 'Trade Policy Day' is dedicated to a renewed EU trade policy after the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Vice-President and new trade commissioner, V. Dombrovskis, will give a keynote speech. Then, Prof. Felbermayr, Kiel Institute, and Prof. Shapiro, UC Berkeley, will set the scene for a panel discussion on "what do stakeholders expect from Europe" featuring DG Trade’s Director General, Sabine Weyand, and representatives of EUROCHAMBRES, CLIENTEARTH and AMFORI.

The WTO Appellate Body, which is part of the WTO dispute settlement, is in major crisis. On 10 December 2019, it will no longer be able to function, as the mandates of two of its three remaining members, out of seven, will expire. This can have major implications for the multilateral trading system.

The purpose of this hearing was primarily to look at the state of play of the bilateral economic relations between the EU and Taiwan. Representatives of the Commission and of the EEAS brought up the institutional approach, while the business angle was delivered by a representative of a German company active in Taiwan on the field of wind-turbine (ENERCON Taiwan).

This hearing addressed the different approaches to EU-Asia connectivity and the issues at stake when it comes to trade. The first panel focused on the possible synergies and challenges with the different approaches and the promotion of multilateral solution, with two well known academics and representatives of Institutions.
