AFET committee meetings
Next AFET committee meetings will be held on:
- Tuesday 20 May 2025, extraordinary meeting with INTA Committee, room SPINELLI (3E2), Brussels
- Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 June 2025, room ANTALL (4Q2), Brussels
Meetings are webstreamed with the exception of agenda items held "in camera".

A delegation of eight Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), led by Chair David McAllister, will travel to Uruguay and Argentina from 26 to 29 May. Members will engage in high-level discussions regarding the EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement which was concluded last December in Montevideo, Uruguay. The findings from this visit will contribute to the preparatory work for the consent procedure on the political and cooperation aspects of the Agreement, for which AFET is responsible.

On 13 May 2025, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a public hearing on the political relations between the European Union and the United States of America. Members will have the possibility to discuss with a panel of three distinguished experts on transatlantic relations about the current state of relations and prospects for future developments.

On 12 May 2025, the AFET and BUDG Committees will hold a second Dialogue on the Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans. The Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans is a new financial instrument aimed at supporting the socio-economic convergence between the six Western Balkan countries and the EU on their path to accession. It consists of €4 billion in highly preferential loans and budgetary guarantees, as well as €2 billion in grants.

On 8 April 2025, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on International Trade will hold a joint public hearing on the implementation of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement in force since 1 May 2021. The Commission will present its annual reports of 2024 and 2025 on the implementation and application of the Agreement and Members will have the possibility to discuss with a panel of four expert speakers the implementation of arrangements and prospects for future developments.
