In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.

Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.

The next AFCO committee meeting is scheduled for 10 February 2022 from 9:00 to 12:00.

The meeting will be held in Brussels and online.

During its meeting of 26 January, AFCO will hold a public hearing, which seeks to allow for a discussion on the role of European political parties in a truly pan-European political debate and the challenges, but also opportunities arising from social media platforms in this particular context. The hearing is expected to shed light on how pluralism, transparency, security, and legal certainty can be safeguarded and promoted. The hearing will be webstreamed.
