ANIT Committee invited Ms Julia Klöckner, German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture to the meeting on 29th October. The Minister will present the priorities of the German Presidency regarding animal welfare, namely animal welfare labelling, followed by an exchange with ANIT Members. The meeting will take place in room ANTALL 2Q2 and be webstreamed like ususally.

Parliament is urging EU countries to improve the welfare of livestock during transportation. Proposed measures include decreasing journey times and tougher penalties for offenders.

ANIT Committee invited Mr Peter Welch, Director of Chamber and Ms Kinga Wisniewska-Danek, Head of Private Office to present the special report No 31/2018 on "Animal welfare in the EU: closing the gap between ambitious goals and practical implementation". The presentation of the Court's work and recommendations on Animal welfare will be followed by an exchange of views with Members. The meeting will take place on 29th October in room ANTALL 2Q2 and will be entirely webstreamed.

On 16 October ANIT had the visit of Claire Bury, Deputy Director-General for Food Safety of the European Commission. The debate on animal welfare during transport focused on the implementation of Regulation 1/2005 and improvements recently made in this area and was followed by an exchange of views with Members.
