ENVI hearing on the ban of animal testing in cosmetics

On 25 May, ENVI held a hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative: ‘Save cruelty-free cosmetics – Commit to a Europe without animal testing’. The AGRI and PETI Committees were be associated.
Following a presentation of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI), Members held a debate with the ECI organisers on the protection and strengthening of the cosmetics animal testing ban, before discussing the EU chemicals regulation, and the need to modernise science in the EU. European Commission Vice-President Jourová and Commissioner Breton took part in the debate.
