In the context of the exponential growth of the epidemic, the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.

The plenary will debate on Monday 8 March and subsequently vote on a legislative own-initiative report on corporate due diligence and corporate accountability. The EP draft comes ahead of the Commission’s proposal for a directive, requiring EU companies to conduct due diligence on respect for human rights and environmental rules through their supply chains. The JURI Committee was designated as lead committee for the legislative INI report in order to influence this future legislation.

On 22 February 2021, the JURI Committee voted on draft opinions on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work, on strengthening transparency and integrity in the EU institutions by setting up an independent EU ethics body, as well as on shaping the digital future of Europe.
