Next Petitions Committee meeting

On Monday 27 March, the PECH Committee, in association with the ENVI and PETI Committees will hold a public hearing on the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) "Stop Finning – Stop the Trade".

This Workshop - organised by the Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs for the Committee on Petitions - focuses on the effects of climate change on vulnerable groups in society, such as the elderly, low-income families, and people with disabilities.

Mr Maroš Šefčovič is the Commissioner for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, responsible for inter-institutional relations and better policy-making held an exchange of views with the members of the PETI Committee, on the 27th of February 2023. This is part of the regular structured dialogue on the Commission Work Programme 2022 and on the cooperation between the European Commission and PETI on improving relations in handling of the petitions.

On 28 February 2023 the Committee on Petitions held a public hearing with professors and experts on the topic “The language immersion model in Catalonia, Spain“. The public hearing followed up on several petitions on the impact of the immersion model in Catalan at schools.
