Public Hearing on "The state of implementation of the Habitats Directive"

On Wednesday 24 May 2023, the Committee on Petitions, in association with the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, held a public hearing on “The state of implementation of the Habitats Directive”.

Following an overview of the state of implementation and of the infringement actions, the hearing explored, on the basis of petitions received by the Committee on Petitions alleging violations of the Habitats Directive in Member States, all shortcomings and enforcement challenges and identified possible best practice to promote full compliance by Member States with the legislation.
