On 24 June, 17:45-18-45, Mr. Bill Gates will join the DEVE Committee for an exchange on "ODA and Innovation: Key Drivers for Health and Living Standards in the Global South." The discussion will focus on the Gates Foundation's work in public health, including vaccination, disease eradication, and innovative technologies. Members will explore the role of Official Development Assistance, the impact of funding cuts, and the importance of investing in human capital for sustainable development.

On 25 June DEVE Members will hear the rapporteur, Ms Leire Pajin (S&D, ES), present the draft report on "Humanitarian aid in a time of polycrisis – reaffirming our principles for a more effective and ambitious response to humanitarian crises". Key messages are the need to ensure respect for international humanitarian law, to focus more on localisation and anticipatory action, and to adopt a gender-sensitive approach to humanitarian aid.

Supporting decent and sustainable jobs, as a driver for eradicating poverty and inequality, is a key objective for the EU's international partnerships. But what impact do aid and investments, including through Global Gateway projects, really have? Experts and stakeholders will present new measurement tools and best practices in creating decent employment in partner countries, to develop practical recommendations for enhancing the EU's future engagement and Parliament's oversight.
