Biodiversity and zoonotic diseases
05-02-2021 - 12:13
Over the last decades, a variety of novel infectious diseases have had zoonotic origins. In this edition of the newsletter, ENVI committee Chair Pascal Canfin argues biodiversity protection and conservation can play a crucial role in reducing the risk of such diseases by providing additional habitats for species and reducing potential contact between wildlife, livestock and humans. The EP has recently published a study on this topic.
Other issues include transport infrastructure, ethics and transparency, Horizon 2020, and the use of pesticides. Forthcoming publications and events are announced.
